Resignations
To all Members,
Over, the last week the FMYC Committee has very reluctantly had to accept resignations from two people who have provided invaluable assistance to the club since its rebirth in 2010.
The resignations are completely unconnected with each other, but both will leave gaps and I and all the Committee will miss their input, their time and their energy.
The first resignation was from Richard Williams (‘Amazing Grace), who in spite of adverse weather, has done his very best to organise the Club Cruises. With the Heybridge cruise still to come he will continue to be involved in marina & club life, but after that we will have a vacancy for someone to help put together future Club Cruises.
The second resignation was from Michael Ratcliffe (Ratters), who expected to have more time free when he retired…. Apparently, he hasn’t!
Michael was one of the people that was instrumental in the rebirth of the club and has done an enormous amount of work to help maintain our aging club house building.
Michael will continue with the arrangements for the ‘White Sail Racing’ and the ‘Paper Boat Race’ (see Calendar) and you will surely continue to see him around the marina.
Ratters input at the committee meetings will also be missed and his resignation creates a vacancy on the Committee.
Our many, many thanks to both for all their efforts & their time.

We (Jolie Brise) plan, as usual, to go over on the Thursday May 26th departing HH approx 07.00 hrs.
Mike Earl (Giulietta II) has offered to be “Mother Ship” if you want to check in, or chat on the way over. We’ll set up a VHF Channel beforehand.
General
We have done sub 10 hrs a few times, but sub 12 hrs is more realistic
(all timed from Landguard By).
Normal return is Sunday, but have sometimes returned Saturday for a better forecast.
This link to the Belgian Shengan crew list requirement might also be useful.
The Mercator Dock / marina will be for entrants to Vor Anker only so closed to ordinary visitors.
We use the Montgomery dock (RNSYC) as it’s a good atmosphere & very close to town. It also has a superb HM & Club.
The RYCO is further out of town by the RoRo dock very friendly & is more “local” with few shops etc.
With the festival on that weekend the whole town is vibrant, with many boats to see & go on. Many bands/ groups on stage all free with bier close to hand too.
Notes
Red Diesel only allowed in “main tank”
No Red diesel allowed in cans (you will be fined),
White in cans is Ok
Fuel is not available in Oostende, the nearest is Niewpoort or Blankenburg, the former is the easiest as the fuel berth is user friendly.
A long warp is a good idea as one lay’s to a By then bow or stern onto a pontoon.
Robert the HM will clock-off around 19.00z local, so pick your own berth on arrival
